Dead..
My Xbox lasted one year. Now it’s just freezing. Freezing. Fraking freezing for no reason. It sometimes beeps and THEN freezes, so… BIOS problem? I know nothing. I’m tempted to send it in, but that would cost me money. So, lame. Any ideas?

Ya, no HD, same problem. The guy I bought it from had it about a year.

=’( I’m almost seriously entertaining just getting a PS3 next time around. Thoughts? Versus, Heavy Rain, MGS, XIV, Uncharted all seem like solid reasons. I wouldn’t be doing this exactly soon or anything.

can you no longer send failed xboxen in for free repair? the ps3 intrigues me but really only as an afterthought to the 360. would be nice to have a blu ray player though.

Free repairs ended right before the NXE update came out. And as of this evening I am now getting the RROD on every bootup. It started up with no problem for about five minutes and then froze on start up of Borderlands earlier. Tried to register it for repairs on XBOX.com, found out the guy I bought it from must have already registered it, so I can’t. Was going to try one last “fix” (clear the cache) which I was not going to hold my breath for since sans hard drive it still had problems. It’s pretty much dead. Hey, maybe an [sarcasm]amazing[/sarcasm] Black Friday deal will come my way and I can throw down more money on another XBOX!!
As for getting a PS3, the 360 only held sway for me because of you guys. As for games (beyond shooters) the PS3 has quite a few that I’d like to play. Also, XIV, but I’m not playing without others.

Supposedly, a class-action lawsuit was filed in California and according to Wikipedia::Xbox_360_technical_problemsMicrosoft is still offering free red ring repairs. Also, the open letter from Peter Moore about the 3 year warranty for red-rings was published on July 6, 2007, which is less than 3 years ago, so they should still have to repair it if you’re getting RROD.

MGS4 is not a good reason to buy a PS3, just a good reason to borrow one for like 3 days.
MGS3 is a great reason to buy a PS2 :P

Yah, not that i’ve played 4 myself, but I feel like MGS games go pretty quick and aren’t really the killer app that you’ll play forever. Sounds like Kyle might know something about this RROD thing so why don’t you call them up and see if you can still get it repaired. Thats the bummer about buying a box from someone used, because supposedly the more modern ones that they make now don’t have the same overheat problems that the older models do to cause the ring.

Hah, maybe so (about MGS4), but it definitely helps in swaying me away from the 360 especially since Cano still has his Box. Definitely going to check out what KG posted, hopefully they’ll honor it still (even though I’m a second owner).

They should. Don’t let them give you any crap about it. All of the warranty rights are transferred to you.

um so i don’t seem to be getting alerts about new posts sent to my emails anymore to tell me that things are updated on dnsh, i’m pretty sure it used to do that. Any ideas why? Are you guys still getting yours?

I’m getting them like 50% of the time. I got one for this, for example, but not for what’s going on in the other thread. My RSS feed is catching the rest though.
