Halo 3:ODST

Well I’m excited. You guys have heard me gripe about my two biggest complaints against the Halo series since 2: regenerative shields and no fall damage. Well, looks like I will cry no more forever with Halo 3:ODST. Both are gone and the pistols are back. This seriously sounds like Halo 1 again. Anyone else getting a bit excited?

“Damage Control: This is no Master Chief you’re controlling, which means you’re shield free and once more dependent on health packs. Nothing changes the flavor of Halo more than having to start scrounging for health.

Humanity: Everything from the perspective (remember you’re no seven-footer) to the fact that falls will hurt you are reminders that you’re just a grunt, not a super hero. It’s nice, after years of playing the guy on the horse, to finally be the one down in the dirt having to get by.

New Weapons: The silenced submachine gun is a fun, but mostly ineffective weapon. Not so with the pistol, which returns to the Halo universe in all of its glory. Firing off headshots with this bad boy has never been easier.”

Those are my three favorite points from Kotaku’s preview. I wasn’t so sure about this game at first but with their Horde-like mode (called Firefight) and it’s emphasis on coop action, and of course the three points above, I’m sold already.

Wow I didn’t know all that stuff. That sounds very awesome. I was watching the footage and it hardly looked different from H3 so I was beginning to lose my faith.

Nice, I’ll start loading it and watch it tomorrow. Damn internet here is amazingly slow.

MOTHER FU*#ER! I was loading that video all morning, was about 2/3 of the way done, and was reading the news when I must have opened too many tabs and Safari just ceased up and crashed. Frak…

EDIT: Here’s a link directly to the video: Clicky

FRAK ME. For some reason it failed loading at around the same point as when it crashed last time (completely unrelated reason). I’m not even going to try for a third time… Looks good, but the demo was pretty bland. The guy controlling The Rookie was a putz. If I’m going to invest in it I’m going to have to be sure you guys are in too: I’m not pulling another L4D on this (a great game which never reached it’s peak because Dylan and I were the only one with it). This game looks like it’s going to be contingent on all of us playing it together. We’ll have to see what the entire package has to offer.

Left 4 Dead is and was not worth 60 bucks.

Lies. It was and is, but not if we’re the only ones who own it.

I signed the petition against Left 4 Dead 2.

Why? Because Valve doesn’t already supply enough free content for it’s fans? Because they haven’t repeatedly produced excellent and innovative games? Because you weren’t satisfied by a four player coop game which you only ever played as a two player experience? For shame.

Because it was a shell of a game. I’m not saying it wasn’t enjoyable though. It definitely didn’t feel like it warranted a 60 dollar price tag. That is mostly Microsoft’s fault. 30-40 dollars would be a better fitting price tag.

Hm, I think that’s on your end. I don’t have any in the unread comments now. Try “Empty Cache” and see if it clears up anything? I dunno though.
