Reinterpreting star wars episode IV

I thought this was pretty hilarious. The article is some nerd reinterpreting episode IV in light of what occurred in the prequel trilogy. His conclusion: R2 D2 and Chewbacca are high ranking leaders and espionage agents in the rebellion.

Super nerdy, pretty entertaining.

Oh Look At Me I’m Emo

Remember in junior high arguing about which was better, FF VII or FF VIII? If I recall correctly Billy and I were the only ones on the FF VII side back then. Well, it still ranks lowest for me for the PlayStation FFs, but I will concede that it did some pretty cool and memorable stuff, especially for back then.

Regardless, I found some guys musings on the game at PopMatters (never heard of it) and it seems like it might be a fun little nostalgic read. I haven’t found the time to get past the first two paragraphs but I plan on reading it tomorrow when I’m stuck in a hotel somewhere in Kentucky. If you guys find the time tell me what you think. We can get our geek on.

Halo 3:ODST

Well I’m excited. You guys have heard me gripe about my two biggest complaints against the Halo series since 2: regenerative shields and no fall damage. Well, looks like I will cry no more forever with Halo 3:ODST. Both are gone and the pistols are back. This seriously sounds like Halo 1 again. Anyone else getting a bit excited?

“Damage Control: This is no Master Chief you’re controlling, which means you’re shield free and once more dependent on health packs. Nothing changes the flavor of Halo more than having to start scrounging for health.

Humanity: Everything from the perspective (remember you’re no seven-footer) to the fact that falls will hurt you are reminders that you’re just a grunt, not a super hero. It’s nice, after years of playing the guy on the horse, to finally be the one down in the dirt having to get by.

New Weapons: The silenced submachine gun is a fun, but mostly ineffective weapon. Not so with the pistol, which returns to the Halo universe in all of its glory. Firing off headshots with this bad boy has never been easier.”

Those are my three favorite points from Kotaku’s preview. I wasn’t so sure about this game at first but with their Horde-like mode (called Firefight) and it’s emphasis on coop action, and of course the three points above, I’m sold already.

E3

You guys been following it at all? Some interesting stuff coming out of there.

* Peter Molyneux is at it again with Milo which will use Microsoft’s Natal, their answer to Wii motion controls (both announcements make me sad).
* Bungie’s got more Halo coming besides ODST with Reach and Mass Effect 2 looks awesome but I have no idea what they’re changing and what the story is about besides that there is something besides Geth out there in the universe and it seems waay more shooty.
* I’m getting excited about TOR which scares me. You guys promise if we play it you’ll keep me accountable, right? Looking forward to it, Smuggler got leaked earlier this week, expecting an official announcement soon I hear.
* L4D2: new survivors, set in the South, five campaigns, melee weapons, limb damageable infected — looks good.

There’s tons more, that’s just what I remembered off the top of my head. I’m not bothering linking any of this stuff since most of the time I do big link posts they get little to no action on here anyway. Anyone else watching any of the stuff they’re announcing?

Ooh, almost forgot, some new MGS game starring Raiden for 360. No idea what to think. It is the cool MGS4 Raiden though.

UPDATE: I take it back, here’s one link. Kotaku just posted a round up of Day 1. Link to Kotaku.
