Resident Evil 5

K I picked it up last night at midnight. Brandon just went through and beat RE4 in like 3 days so that he would be up to snuff for co op. The two of us are going to blast zombies all night tonight starting at about 9:00 pm. I’m totally stoked. the only thing better than killing the undead is doing it with a good friend watching your back. Anyone else picking the game up today?

Not today, but I really want to. Cano? Eh? I’ve bought the last couple games, wink wink (ya, I know, you bought all of them for like three years).

Nice. We started on Vet but decided to turn it down and are now kinda regretting it. We thought for some reason that the enemies were supposed to go down with one headshot but that’s just not always the case. Even on Normal they often would just stumble. We played for like 8 hours tonight though. Haven’t done that in forever. Will probably slowly go through it again on vet next. Just got down with the stair puzzle (not really a puzzle).

Question: are you guys selling the gems you find or keeping them?

we sold everything to upgrade our guns. oh and just so you know you can switch difficulty at any time, just go to chapter select instead of continue. Have you guys tried out the combo attacks? Shoot someone to stagger them, then do a melee, then have the other character do a melee on the enemy, then have the first person finish them with an insane mortal kombat style fatality! very cool. Yah if the headshot doesnt kill them you should definitely run up and melee them. If you do the melee from behind them by the way its an instant kill, chris does neck brake and sheva does throat slit. Wait till you guys run into the lickers…

ya, been doing some throat slits myself. never done a full combo, usually just the two hits. we read something about the combo thing but were too tired to actually pay attention to it. not to mention we’re rarely next to each other when we play, but we’ll have to give it a go. I’m going sniper/shotgun, dylan pistol/magnum atm

ya i play semi auto sniper, shotgun (the M3 not the pump) and i the pistol with the low power but the huge clip. Brandon plays the assault rifle, the strong pistol with the tiny clip, and then he switches between the magnum and the grenade launcher.

So switched it up to Veteran now, was a pain at first, but now it’s been a good challenge.

Veteran is so freaking tough! I rock the upgraded starting pistol, some kind of smg, the revolver style magnum, and the grenade launcher (the magnum is for the dogs). My accuracy is shit compared to Boughter’s because he uses the sniper and shotgun.

omg do i hate the dogs. I use the upgraded starting pistol too because the capacity is so high. I can keep like 50 bullets in it and free up slots in my inventory which is always good. And the shtotgun i use is the “jail breaker.” Ya veteran is pretty tough but i’ve beaten RE4 like a billion times and Brandon beat it like last week so we figured we were up for a challenge.

Beat it tonight. Short but fun. Story is kinda bats and ragged, but enjoyable little shell to deliver the fun gameplay. Definitely has some replay which is nice. Mercenaries is tough, gonna need to work on that.

Ah, I thought about switching over to the Jail Breaker but stuck with the pump. Just got used to it I guess, liked the feel. Was upgrading the Jail Breaker by the time we finished.

brandon and I or on the ship and probably wont get to play again until like monday :( Going to have to go hunting for emblems though. Looks like there’s like 2 or 3 unlockable costumes and i think you can also unlock jill and wesker? And then there were some other like graphical filters to unlock or something like that? And then of course there’s probably like a bunch of secret weapons. That was the fun part of 4. After you beat it trying to do the game with the different weapons and settings and so forth. And then i guess there’s going to be that multiplayer patch in a month which i’m stoked for. Apparently mercenaries can be played online though right now?

Ya, Merc works online. Definitely going back through for emblems. We got like 1.

We’ve unlocked 4 secret characters in Mercenaries so far.

ya brandon bailed on me for vacation so i’m trying to finish the game solo which is tougher with the AI.

dude call me up tomorrow and “we’ll do it live!”, by that I mean xbox live. Boughter has to finish up homework so he’ll probably be cool sitting out.

March 22, 2009 @ 12:42 am

That’s what you think. But ya, I’ll definitely sit out. Waay too much reading to do. Oh, and Sheva + Bow = great success. We unlocked all the characters in Mercenary now, working on emblems. Pai going to use Gamefaqs, went through on our own for a bit and only got maybe less than half for the first like four stages… Not worth it.

have you guys unlocked proffessional difficulty?

Comment by Boughter

March 22, 2009 @ 9:27 am

No, not yet. We’re going back through and beating the levels we didn’t beat on Veteran right now. You get it after beating the game on veteran?

ya i think so. I’m trying to find the emblems and get the hidden weapons. You get them by fully upgrading the starting pistol, shotgun, rifle, machine gun, and magnum.
