Well, it’s not going to happen, according to this article on Games Radar.
For the lazy, here’s a summary (with some comments by me):
1. Konami has firmly said it won’t
-multiple times
- -however that really doesn’t mean anything nowadays
2. Blu-ray wasn’t big enough
-Kojima’s beeen quoted as saying that blu-ray wasn’t big enough for his vision of the game
- -blu-ray = 50gb : double layer dvd = 8gb
- – -lots of disc swapping, though that hardly seems a compelling reason to not port
3. It’s packed with references to the PS3
-from the six-axis used to control the tiny metal gear thing to in game references and a psp
- -woopdeedoo? either they’d be a)changed or b)kept and no one would care
4. Sony needs exclusives right now
-true
- -but does Konami really care?
5. Why start now?
-mgs 1 helped make the ps1
- -good point, but still, does Konami really care?
I’m still pooling my money in the camp that it’s not going to be ported, but these reasons are a bit flimsy. Interesting enough read though.
Off topic: Why can’t I do a double hyphen ( – )? It eats one up. If I do three it appears as two. Something to do with HTML that I’ve never heard of or just WP?
- (<–one)
– (<–two)
— (<–three)
Oh and on another off topic subject, I’m coming home tomorrow! Might be hitting SF for the weekend but after that I’ll be in town for a few weeks before school starts. Anyone home or going to come home for a weekend or something (looking at you Joe)? Really want to have a bbq or something or just hang out and play some games or frisbee. Brandon, you’re in Scotland aren’t you? I got stuck with my old gig, the one you had awesomely taken the last few years (Chaddar). Gah, I’ll be all alone too I think!
