Happy SysAdmin Day!

Woohoo! So today, Friday the 25th of July, is the official System Administrator Appreciation Day and as such it’s our chance to, beyond just the little thank you’s we give, to throw a big THANK YOU to Joeymon for all the work he’s done on for us, especially the behind the scenes stuff! It also seems appropiate to throw one out to KG for the domain name registration and other work he’s done on a number of these pages as well! Thanks guys!!

The Great Male Survey

I have no idea what this is, er, I should say I had no idea what this was until today. Comes off AskMen.com and is a web poll (and we all know how fool-proof those can be). Anyway, #19 made me laugh, and I agree:

Q: At what age should a man stop playing video games?
66% Never
14% At 20
12% At 30
8% Real men don’t play video games

P.S. “WordPress 2.6 is available! Please notify the site administrator.” Consider yourself notified, Joe.

P.P.S This popped up in the Sexuality section:
Q: Approximately how many sex partners have you had?
17% 15 or more
15% 1
13% I’ve never had sex

Seems like it’s all or nothing with men.

Abe Lincoln Telephone Pictionary

So we played a game of telephone pictionary this weekend at a friend’s house. You start by writing down a phrase which the next person draws. The next person looks at that picture and tries to write down what phrase it is depicting. The next person then draws that new phrase. And so on:

Here’s an example I thought you guys would enjoy (Boughter wrote the first phrase, I drew the first picture):
Abraham Lincoln dunking over Jefferson Davis
Drawing of [Abraham Lincoln dunking over Jefferson Davis]
Abraham Lincoln dunks over the Confederacy
Drawing of [Abraham Lincoln dunks over the Confederacy]
Abraham Lincoln pwning the Confederacy in basketball
Drawing of [Abraham Lincoln pwning the Confederacy in basketball]
Abraham Lincoln shooting hoops
Drawing of [Abraham Lincoln shooting hoops]

The Dark Knight

Well let’s just get the one word descriptors outta the way: AWESOME, OMG, MENACE, AMAZING, ETC

That was a seriously amazing piece of awesome. Great freakin movie, somehow lives up to the first and, well, I’ll be going back.

In other news though we had some interesting technical difficulties during our midnight viewing… of the burning variety. Twice. The reel burnt* at about 5 minutes from the end (gonna keep this spoiler free, but you should know the part). Took them almost 30 minutes to fix it, then it burnt immediately again. They fixed it again but jumped ahead about 1-2 minutes, not really sure how long exactly. We missed something important to say the least, but could kinda gather what happened, though are definitely not sure. Allen, one of our flatmates, convinced the theater staff to give him a piece of the burnt reel which turned out to have a crystal clear image of Batman, though sadly I couldn’t get a good picture of it with all the light needed behind it to see it.

Anyway, awesome movie, going for round two soon I hope.

*Just to explain that first shot, that’s the screen. I couldn’t catch you the awesome burning moment, I wasn’t fast enough, that’s pretty much the aftermath.

Final Fantasy XIII – Plus More!

UPDATE BELOW

Breaking news from the Microsoft E3 2008 press conference. Square Enix head honcho Yoichi Wada took the stage to announce Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360.

Yes, just take a moment to soak that up. Final Fantasy XIII coming to the Xbox 360. Holy fucking shit. Simultaneous release in Europe and North America with PS3. Wow.

source: Kotaku

Um, holy shit yes anyone?

Also, best comment from article: “So thats why the MS execs were all wearing knee pads..”

So since I just posted this and I found this other stuff on Kotaku as well I thought I’d just update this post with the other info:

Rock Band 2 optional drums look awesome, plus they’re only $300 so, you know, why not? Also some updated info on the tracklist and backwards compatibility (looks like more than just the downloadable stuff will work – pretty nice). I’m excited, but then again I haven’t even mastered drums on expert completely yet, so I may put off snagging it, we’ll see. Also with the whole Guitar Hero 4 having drums thing I may have to wait and evaluate their tracklists (though in all honesty Rock Band interface kicks Guitar Hero’s in the ass).
