That was fantastic.

Shirky is one of those people I’m glad people are paying attention to. I don’t know what to do with the things he says, but it looks like other people do, so that’s good.

I agree that interacting with media is much more entertaining than just watching. On the same note you can watch a show and then share it with friends or a community afterwards. Like Star Wars has inspired a huge community to do things relating to it. I guess sitcoms haven’t inspired as much work and thats probably because its just a story about ideal social interactions (media’s portrayal of reality) that people can relate to or wishes they had and then they try to emulate them in their own lives. I’m having a really tough time talking about this article because it talked about so many different points that I didn’t quite follow as related. But it was interesting. “Free time” is a neat concept, especially in our society because so many of us expect to have it.
